Unemployment in CR down 0.5 pts to 8.7 pct in May

Analysts expected a similar development.

There were 514,779 job seekers and 15.5 job applicants per vacancy on average.

Labour offices at end-May had 499,222 unemployed ready to start to work immediately in their files, 24,369 fewer than a month earlier but 52,771 more than in May 2009.

The total number of job seekers registered at labour offices at end-May was 25,349 lower compared with April but 57,218 higher against May 2009 when unemployment stood at 7.9 percent.

A total of 73,410 job seekers left employment offices' files in May, 12,592 fewer than in the previous month and 17,558 more than in May 2009.

The number of people who found a new job in May fell by 12,456 from April - to 52,922. Compared with May 2009, the number was 15,240 higher.

All 77 labour offices reported a month-on-month decrease in unemployment. The biggest fall was in the districts of Znojmo (southern Moravia), Jindrichuv Hradec (southern Bohemia), Chrudim (eastern Bohemia), Prachatice (southern Bohemia) and Cesky Krumlov (southern Bohemia).

The highest number of job seekers per vacancy in May was in the districts of Teplice (northern Bohemia), Karvina (northern Moravia), Decin (northern Bohemia) and Trebic (southern Moravia).

There are currently 68.2 job seekers on average in the district of Teplice and 62.1 job seekers in the district of Karvina.
