Prague - Sales of new passenger cars in the Czech Republic increased by almost 11 percent to 12,921 cars in January, and Skoda Octavia with a share over 17 percent was the top-selling model, the Car Importers' Association (SDA) announced today.
Skoda Auto sold 4,262 cars and raised its market share to 33 percent. Then came Volkswagen with 1,134 cars sold and Hyundai with 984 cars.
Next were Renault, Ford and Peugeot. The top-selling models, apart from Skoda Octavia, were further Skodas - Fabia, Yeti and Superb.
Registrations of new light utility vehicles grew by 22 percent to 957 vehicles in January. Sales of lorries rose in a similar way to 551 lorries and sales of buses jumped by 125 percent to 45 buses.
On the other hand, sales of motorcycles fell by 3 percent to 565 units. Imports of used motorcycles rose by some 12 percent, however.
